“The Albuquerque Bernalillo County Community School Partnership received a five-year, $491,700 grant to help further the growth of community schools in Bernalillo County.

The U.S. Department of Education recently announced $63 million in new five-year Full-Service Community Schools grants to support 42 local educational agencies, nonprofits, or other public or private organizations and institutions of higher education working to expand existing community schools or establish new programs.

“The ABC Community School Partnership will use this grant to work collaboratively with three APS Title I schools to scale up and transform them as part of our full-service community school initiative,” says ABC Community Schools Partnership Executive Director Danette Townsend. “We will engage our comprehensive and intensive technical assistance and professional development training to support these three schools, the full-time community school coordinators, and their communities as they implement the community school strategy.”

The grant funding will support community school development at the following Title I schools: Hodgin Elementary, McKinley Middle School and Del Norte High School.”
