State Coalition

The Coalition for Community Schools state and regional networks/coalitions bring stakeholders together to create policy and advocate for the growth and sustainability of the Community Schools strategy and the number of Community Schools across our nation. Currently there are approximately 25 states or regions that have formalized state networks/coalitions. They are each at different stages of development and involve various stakeholders including, school districts, institutions of higher education, teacher unions, state afterschool networks, nonprofits, philanthropic organizations, United Ways and others. The networks/coalitions provide Community School leaders and advocates a learning community to network, build capacity and adaptive leadership skills, learn effective policy and advocacy strategies, share best practices, and foster the development of the following four areas of focus:

  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Professional Learning
  • Policy and Advocacy
  • Communications
