WEBINAR: CS Effectively & Efficiently Investing in Our Youth

March 31, 2011

In a time of scarce resources, it is important to understand how leaders around the country, in statehouses and city agencies, school districts and communities, are maximizing dwindling resources.  A recent report by the Coalition for Community Schools, Financing Community Schools: Leveraging Resources to Support Student Success, highlights several communities that have figured out how to do more with less. The report finds that diversified funding in community schools leverages district dollars 3:1.

The Coalition invites you to participate in a webinar to learn how two community school initiatives (Evansville, IN and Multnomah County, OR) are successfully leveraging resources – both public and private.  Presenters, from school districts and local jurisdictions that are seriously implementing the community school strategy, will discuss their experience along with the benefits of this strategy in transforming their schools.

Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corporation partners with over 70 community agencies to support the academic, social emotional, and health needs of students and families. In Multnomah County, OR, SUN (Schools Uniting Neighborhoods) Service System aligns over $45 million in resources from school districts, City, County, and State organizations  to deliver academic support, enrichment, youth development, health, and other services to students, families, and members of the community to increase academic success and family self-sufficiency.

Webinar Presenters:

  • Cathlin Gray, Associate Superintendent , Center for Family, School, and Community Partnerships, Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation
  • Diana Hall, Program Supervisor, SUN Service System, Multnomah County, OR
