The Coalition for Community Schools Applauds the President’s 2012 Education Budget
02/24/11
The Coalition for Community Schools strongly supports the Obama Administration’s unrelenting commitment to increased investments in education in the 2011 budget. We are particularly pleased that funding for the Full Service Community Schools program remains a part of the Administration’s budget.
The Coalition for Community Schools looks forward to working with the President and the new Congress to explicitly integrate the role of families and communities throughout a reauthorized Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). Communities across the country are braiding various funding streams to finance the community school strategy -- Title I, School Improvement Grants, the 21 Century Learning Centers program, Race to the Top and others. Additionally, they are tapping resources from other federal agencies including HHS, Agriculture, Justice, HUD and the Corporation for National & Community Service.
