On the Back to School Bus Tour Trail
U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and Department officials crossed the country on his nationwide Back to School Bus Tour, highlighting the very best practices in American education along the way.
It’s no surprise that several community schools have been stops along the way.
Check out the highlights from:
Kansas City, Missouri, where the Secretary talked about how he helped guide the growth Chicago Public Schools’ Community School Initiative and its effectiveness of the community school model.
Evansville, Indiana where Department officials hosted a panel discussion at Glenwood Leadership Academy, a community school within Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corporation. The panel discussion featured EVSC Superintendent David Smith and EVSC school board members as well as National Education Association President Dennis Van Roekel, Evansville Teachers Association President Keith Gambill, and U.S. Department of Education Deputy Secretary Tony Miller.
