White House Supports Funding for Community School Coordinators


Michael Robbins, Senior Advisor for Nonprofit Partnerships, Center for Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships at the U.S. Department of Education, asserts the importance of the role of coordinators in the White House blog post, Managing School-Community Partnerships is a Full-Time Job. Robbins encourages schools to budget funds allotted as part of a School Improvement Grant for a partnership coordinator who can be employed by the school or a community-based nonprofit partner. He highlights the essential role of a community school coordinator in collecting resources to support student needs, identifying and establishing relationships with community partners, and creating or enhancing a volunteer recruitment and management system.
