A new study released by SUN Community Schools in Multnomah County, Oregon shows clear advantages extended school days has on student academic participation.
 

SUN Community Schools encompasses six school districts within the county. This report examines extended day programs at SUN community schools within the Portland Public Schools District. It showed how students participating in extended day programs earned more credits than peers not participating in those programs. Extended day students also had better attendance but did not score significantly higher on state math and reading tests.
