Race to the Top: Implications for Community Oriented Schools (aka. Community Schools)

November 30, 2009

The $4.35 billion for the Race to the Top Fund is an unprecedented federal investment in reform. What are your states doing to prepare? Community school advocates across the nation are taking the lead in making the case for community schools.

During the webinar, the Coalition will facilitate a conversation to 1) help participants review the aspects of the RTT guidelines that are most relevant to community schools; 2) offer advice for making the case, 3) did deeper into RTT priorities to seek a match with the community schools’ approach.

Key elements of community schools are embedded throughout the RTT guidelines. The challenge is for community school advocates is to demonstrate how these elements fit into the broad community schools vision and help states strengthen their RTT application. This webinar will help Advocates sharpen their case for the comprehensive vision of community schools, as supported by this unprecedented funding opportunity.
