Overview

In Lincoln, NE, more than two dozen schools currently function as community learning centers. The CLC model in Nebraska operates on the following six “CLC Operating Principles:” Collaboration, Integration [of services], Lifelong Learning Culture, Outcome Focused, Community Leadership, and Neighborhood Based. Lincoln’s Community Learning Centers provide a delivery model to support students, families and neighborhoods as they strive to be successful, thriving, and strong. CLCs are about the process of people and programs working together to create a culture of learning that serves our entire community.

·         2010-2011 Continuous Improvement Data Snapshot foe Lincoln CLC Schools found improved behavior and teacher surveys reporting around two-thirds or more of students in CLCs meeting or surpassing state standards in writing, reading, and math (read more in this NEA report, http://www.nea.org/assets/docs/Family-School-Community-Partnerships-2.0.pdf)
·         In 2012, the Lincoln Community Foundation received the U.S. Housing and Urban Development and the Council on Foundation's Secretary Award for Community Foundations.

Funding Sources

CLCs in Lincoln are funded through support from 21st Century Community Learning Center grants, LPS Title I funds and matching resources from local funders and community based organizations.
