Chronic Absences in the Early Grades A Closer Look at New York City and Baltimore
February 10, 2009
Nationally, an estimated one in ten kindergarten and first grade
students are chronically absent. In the past year,
we have come to find out that in New York City and Baltimore, the data
is even more astounding – in New York, 20% of students in grades K-5
were chronically absent and in Baltimore (‘05/06), approximately 17.4%
of all K-3rd graders were chronically absent. Participate in this
webinar to learn more about the situations in New York City and
Baltimore and see how you can begin to address this issue in your
communities!
