Forum for Youth Investment Releases Primer on New FERPA Regulations
12/14/11
The
Forum for Youth Investment recently published a five-page guide on the new provisions and regulations in the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, commonly referred to as FERPA.
This resource runs down the changes in the decades-old law that inadvertently hampers intra-agency data-sharing in today’s digital world. FERPA was originally passed in 1974 and governs access and control over student education records.
While serving as a guide for those looking to navigate FERPA’s rules , the Forum’s primer also includes analysis of shortcomings and omissions of the new regulations. This guide should be helpful to community schools working with student data sharing and their evaluators.
