Nashville Community Achieves
Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools recently announced the launch of a cohort of 17 new community schools as part of their Community Achieves initiative.
Coalition for Community Schools Director Martin Blank delivered the keynote address during the launch event Feb. 28 at Antioch High School in Nashville. These schools will draw on the resources from the abundance of proud community organizations committed to the empowerment of the Nashville region. These schools will include Family Resource Centers, after school programs, health clinics, classes for adults, and much more, with the goal of improving college and career readiness, family engagement, health and wellness, and social support in Nashville's public school system.
This cohort of new community schools follows the success of the award-winning community school Glencliff High School
. MNPS created the Department of Parent and Community Involvement to develop and scale up its community school intiative across the entire district.
