California School Board Association Highlights the Community Schools Strategy

California School Boards Association shows its support for the community schools approach in its magazine's summer edition. The association explains what community schools are, how they work, and why they are beneficial for every community.
The association noted that there are many good reasons to maximize the resources of a community around the schools. Besides academic performance, community schools improve dropout rates, school attendance, test scores, and behavioral problems. CSBA, in an effort to inform its members about this idea, is devoting a strand to community schools in their Annual Education Conference and Trade Show. The association is planning a comprehensive program for community schools that includes strategy, best practices, financial and technical details, as well as leader responsibilities.
