College, Career, and Citizenship
College, Career, and Citizenship
The goal of every community school is to prepare its students to be successful in life after graduation. That’s why the icon for "College, Career, and Citizenship" is placed in the center of the Community Schools Smart Phone’s menu of applications.
Partners and supports in community schools are carefully selected with the goal of developing students with the 21
st
century skills that will not only guide them through their post-secondary and professional career, but that will ultimately make them better and engaged citizens in a democratic society. Community schools partner with universities and colleges to prepare middle and high school students for college; they provide students with engaging and meaningful instruction; and they create service-learning and other youth development opportunities that train students to be active citizens.
Community schools are working with and creating pioneering innovative cradle-to-career (C2C) initiatives that provide supports and opportunities for their students, from birth through graduation and career.
