Community Schools: Creating the Conditions for Learning
National Forum of the Coalition for Community Schools
Baltimore Maryland

June 14-16, 2006

Creating an environment in which all children can learn at high levels is a challenge for all schools — a challenge that community schools are designed to meet. Community schools do this by creating the five conditions for learning that the Coalition believes are essential for every child to succeed.

[Learn more about the specific studies that support each of the five conditions for learning in the full Making the Difference report in Chapter 2, page 15.]

The 2006 National Forum of the Coalition for Community Schools will highlight how community schools initiatives are creating these conditions through changes in leadership, policy, systems and practice changes.

The goals of the Forum are to help participants:

The conference will bring together a diverse group of leaders from the fields of education, youth development, health and human services, family support, neighborhood and community development, government, philanthropy and others who work at the local, state and national levels. Bring your experience, expertise and enthusiasm to our fifth National Forum!
